So remember that horrifying study mentioned in the last post that showed a bunch of people surveyed in the UK couldn’t reliably distinguish between the statements made by convicted rapists and lad mags? This FB Friday submission from matchframe is a response to it, and possibly even worse than the last post. Matchframe writes, “I should have asked him if he was one of the people who participated in the study… Better yet, I should have asked him if he was one of the rapists quoted in the study.”
I love the first response. As always, the old trick stands true: if you have to say “I’m not a sexist/racist/bigot/asshole” before whatever you’re about to say, chances are you are in fact a sexist/racist/bigot/asshole. No, my short skirt is not consent. No, my fantastic boobs and impeccable eye liner are not consent, you dipshit.
But really, maybe we should be thanking red and green for their input. I mean honestly, have you ever seen a better representation of rape culture in your life?
